I hope you are doing well this beautiful week of September! It has been such a privilege to work with the students and staff over these last few weeks. It is clear that you have a very caring community of learners! Below, please find updates and reminders of important events for you and your family.

Picture Day is Monday, September 30th! Please review the information about ordering pictures for your child, if you choose to do so.

Educational Benefits Applications for School Year 2024-25 can be filled out online any time! Letters went out to every household by August 1st, 2024 to also communicate the importance of completing this application.

PLEASE look at the letter carefully and make sure ALL STUDENTS who are members of your household are listed on the letter. If anyone is missing from the household, please call Skylar Hatch at 763-528-4520 or email her at hatchs@colheights.k12.mn.us . It is very important that all students are listed and the school is correct for each of them. Any questions, can be directed to Skylar Hatch or Pam Haupt, Food Service Coordinator at 763-528-4527.

This is a very important annual process as the educational benefits applications need to be completed every school year.

Homecoming: Next Friday, October 4th is Homecoming! To celebrate Spirit Week and build community pride, we encourage our students to dress up each day of the week. Here are the daily themes:

• Monday, September 30th: Dress Up Day (and Picture Day)
• Tuesday, October 1st: Hat Day
• Wednesday, October 2nd: Pajama Day
• Thursday, October 3rd: Sports Day
• Friday, October 4th: Hyander Pride (blue and gold)

We still have a few spots available in our Pre-K half-day classes! If you know a neighbor or friend who is looking for a terrific Pre-K program for their 4 year old, please share with them our enrollment webpage https://www.colheights.k12.mn.us/families/enroll This is a fun and enriching experience for 4 year olds!

We wanted to share that measles cases have been identified in the Metro area. We want to remind you to make sure your vaccines for this very contagious disease are up to date. Please make sure the health office where your student attends has the most up to date vaccine records. More information about measles is available on the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)’s website in Spanish, Somali and Hmong.

The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine series is 97% effective against measles. Students who are vaccinated with the MMR vaccine have a low risk of becoming sick with measles. If you are not sure if your child has had one or more measles shots, contact your doctor or clinic. You can also request your immunization record by visiting Find My Immunization Record or find out where to get vaccinated.

Watch for Symptoms:

• Rash AND
• Fever AND
• Cough OR runny nose OR watery/mattering eyes

What to do if symptoms develop:

If anyone in your home develops these symptoms, call your doctor or clinic right away.

• Stay at home and avoid having visitors until you have talked with your doctor or clinic.
• Keep your child out of school or child care if they have symptoms.
• If anyone who lives in your home develops symptoms, MDH may contact you with additional information and recommendations.

On Thursday, October 11th, students will learn from home. This will be a Flexible Learning Day for all students K-12. Please review the information sent home by your student's teacher to understand how students will learn that day.

The online conference system is available for fall conferences at https://myconferencetime.com/npe/. Please use this link to register for conferences for your child(ren). Conferences are from 3:30 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 14.📆
